The success of the solidarity market reaffirms the goodness of the citizens
The solidarity market, held last weekend, has attracted hundreds of people who have been able to enjoy extraordinary shopping.
The objects and clothes sold come from voluntary donations and are intended to give a second life before they accumulate in the houses or end up in the rubbish dump.
The benefit collected, 2,800 euros, has exceeded that of the first two editions and will help the NGO Zikomo Africa to buy an ambulance.
Pozuelo de Alarcón (Madrid), 20 December 2019- El Causadillo, evento solidarity promoted by Art Marketing that raises funds for humanitarian projects through flea markets, exceeds the number of donations received and sold and, consequently, the collection for the cause, which has reached 2,800 euros in this edition.
The campaign to collect donations and the days of the market, also thanks to a truce in the rain, have been a great success. Both individuals and companies have been involved in delivering hundreds of things in good condition – books, clothes, toys, electronics, etc. – which El Causadillo has sold at prices ranging almost entirely between 1 and 5 Euros.
Special mention to the Hotel Auditorium Marriot in Madrid, which donated 100 pillows and 100 cushions that were sold out early on Sunday, leaving many people wanting to buy more. A “sold out” as unexpected as it was celebrated by the organization.
Charitable cause
This third edition of El Causadillo, held on December 14th and 15th at the Art Marketing Parking, has looked to Africa. The members of Zikomo Africa, a development aid NGO in Malawi, have participated very actively in the realization of the market.
The activity of Zikomo Africa is focused on the areas of education, health and nutrition, as well as on the improvement of the living conditions of the inhabitants of Malawi, a country in the south-east of Africa. The money obtained in El Causadillo will be used to buy an ambulance for the Hospital of Mtengo wa Nthenga, managed by the Carmelite Missionaries in Malawi. Yesterday, Thursday, in the same facilities, the 2,800 euro award ceremony was held in the presence of the heads of the humanitarian association, the organizers of El Causadillo, together with Ximena Alcayaga, executive secretary of Madrid Marriott Auditorium Hotel & Conference Center.
“The selfless work of the Art Marketing team of volunteers, as well as of some of Pozuelo’s neighbors, their effort and the impeccable organization of the event, both in the days before and during the market days, have led to the success of this initiative,” said Silvia Amorós Palop,
President of Zikomo Africa.
“The success of El Causadillo is always a lottery, as we depend on both donations and unpredictable assistance, as well as -especially in the winter edition- no rain. Therefore, from the organization we feel very happy and satisfied that everything has gone so well,” says Beatriz de Andrés, CEO of Art Marketing and part of the team of El Causadillo.
This event, besides being supportive of the cause that receives the donation, has an important impact on the neighborhood, since there are many people from Pozuelo’s neighborhoods, which despite being such a prosperous municipality, has a very unequal distribution of wealth and there are neighbors who live in a very precarious situation. In addition, El Causadillo, promotes the green economy with recycling, since everything that is donated, is given a second life. The unsold donations have been distributed among the Casa de Acogida de Villa Paz in Pozuelo, Cáritas and what was not useful to either institution has been collected by the scrap dealer. With this, the wheel has been closed in favor of the circular economy that the team of El Causadillo promotes.
